Privacy Policy

Last updated 11 September 2026

BeGerman is built so that it does not need to know who you are. There is no account and no sign in. The one thing it shares is ad measurement with Meta, so we can tell whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram work. This policy explains exactly what that means.

1.The short version

2.What the app stores

The app keeps your progress on your device: which lessons you have finished and their scores, your XP, your streak, your chosen level and goal, your mock exam results, and your settings.

If you enter a name on your profile it is stored on your device only, so the app can greet you. It is never sent anywhere.

3.iCloud sync

On iPhone and iPad your progress is written to Apple’s key value store using the iCloud account you are already signed into, so the same progress appears on both devices.

This is your private iCloud storage. We cannot read it, and there is no shared database. If you are not signed into iCloud, or you turn iCloud off, the app simply keeps everything locally.

You can also save a progress file yourself and store it wherever you like. That file is created only when you ask for it.

4.Audio

All German audio is recorded ahead of time and ships inside the app. Playing a word does not contact any server and works with no connection.

The app does not use your microphone. There is no recording of any kind.

5.Subscriptions and purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details.

Whether you have Pro is checked on your device against Apple’s own record of your purchase. That check does not identify you to us.

6.Advertising measurement (Meta)

We advertise BeGerman on Facebook and Instagram. To learn which ads lead people to install the app, start a free trial or subscribe, the app includes the Meta SDK, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.

The SDK sends Meta: that the app was installed and opened; in app purchase events, meaning which plan, its price and currency, and whether it started a free trial; and technical details such as device model, operating system and app version, language, time zone and IP address.

On iPhone and iPad, the SDK only sends your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking when the app asks. If you do not, it is not sent, and Meta receives only what Apple permits without tracking. You can change your choice at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.

On Android the SDK may use the Android advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your device settings.

The SDK never receives your name, your progress, your answers or anything you write in the app. Meta handles what it does receive under its own privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy

7.Writing feedback

Feedback on writing tasks is produced on your device. What you write is not uploaded.

8.Your control and deletion

Reset your progress at any time from the profile screen. That clears everything the app has stored on the device.

Deleting the app removes its local data. Anything in your iCloud is managed by you through your device settings.

Allow or stop tracking for ad measurement at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.

9.Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10.Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
